Dreamboat #12: Aggressive Ambient with T. Morimoto

Why do we fight? Why do we run? Or more precisely, why do 50000 people choose to run 40km on a Sunday morning only to prove that they can do better than one Ancient Greek man who died trying? Are marathon runners running away from death? Has Berlin given up on the abandoned empty Sunday morning streets synonymous with #clubculture and snuggled up to run culture and its racey datey run clubs? What is culture if it is only meaningful in distinction to nature but also that from which the distinction to nature emerges? But if culture is, but also isn’t the same as running a marathon, because it’s ultimately just the edge of a bifurcation, what is Dreamboat doing in this radio booth at 9am with one of the most cultured people they know – the one and only drool-worthy dreamboat T. Morimoto? T. (that’s short for Tom) was here to answer all these questions and more! Tom is an Eora/Sydney-based media theorist, musician & DJ, curator of hot label Sumac, media artist and plenty of other hyper hyper-linkable things, including being a dear friend (remember those?) and utterly shameless of his Shazam history. In typical fashion Morimoto serves up unfiltered and acute analysis, alongside picking the music for this week. He even brought hand-picked mushrooms as his treasure! What can’t this guy do!? All Dan and Leo needed to do, in contrast, was chime in with the occassional sprinkle of opinion on topics like whether we should monetize hobby runners for a new delivery app, AI dildos and ambient music’s post-ketamine phase.
