INSIJAM with Josephine

In this DJ set, recorded in my home studio, I set out to create something rooted in drone and balance, both as an end in itself and as a means to an end, and as a contrast to my recently published DJ sets, which are full of intensity and deconstruction. In the end, listening back to the recording, I don’t think I fully achieved that, haha. However, the main idea was to select tracks with different experimental perspectives, from various eras and places, and explore how they interact within a continuous piece. I’m very happy with the resulting musical conversation, hope you enjoy.

BIO:

Josephine’ Soundscapes is the moniker of Jose Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture based in Madrid. He has been an active participant in shaping the city’s underground electronic music scene for over twenty years. In recent years, he has founded and developed club nights and platforms such as Club Paraíso Madrid, CALMA, and the independent promoter cell a_mal_gam_a, with projects including Dance Cave, Avalovara Listening Club, L’art Dance Club at ARCO, and Festival En Pausa at La Casa Encendida, among others. He currently runs Campos de Marte, focused on experimental music, and is responsible for the curatorship of Temple, the deep listening sessions held at Espacio Perpendicular.As a DJ, selector, and researcher, he connects past and present through sound collages and sets shaped by a deeply creative and reflective approach. His practice moves from immersive atmospheres and expansive braindance in deep listening environments to more electric and escapist moments on leftfield dancefloors.His immersive proposals function as laboratories where artistic practice and critical reflection intertwine in a multireferential sonic journey.
