kombibad books — The Heart's Constant w/ Ian Macartney @ Aberdeen Beach
Recorded at Aberdeen Beach this September, Scottish poet Ian Macartney reads from his new pamphlet The Heart's Constant, followed by a conversation with writer and art historian Enxhi Mandija.
A spiritual sequel to Shale Bings, the pamphlet is built from two twinned sequences, ‘systole’ and ‘diastole’. The first charts love and heartbreak at the end of the world (Aberdeen in the late 2010s), the second widens out to the ocean and how it meets human endeavour, in poems that sit like flotsam on the page, driftwood-ing stanzas churned by a pantheistic energy.
The Heart's Constant, published by Eckstein Studio in Berlin, is available at kombibad books, along with Ian's second Eckstein release, Truth Poems End.
