This episode listens to the pulse of rumba. Emerging from the encounters between Flamenco traditions in southern Spain and the diasporic echoes of Afro-Cuban rumba, Flamenco rumba carries the energy of plazas, patios, sidewalks and parks. It is music made for open air.
Over the last generations, rumba has crossed many musical boundaries. From artists like El Pele, who explore the roots of flamenco, to contemporary voices like rusowsky, blending electronic production with Latin sounds and the spirit of rumba. Along the way it has intertwined with jazz, rock, funk, and pop, multifaceted as the street in which it was born.
